The Hereford Police Department has recently become aware of a text - message scam that is being sent via cellular phone text messaging. This message is purported to be from Amarillo National Bank out of Amarillo, TX and states that your card has been deactivated and then provides a phone number for you to call and "reactivate" your card.
This scam has been reported by various media outlets in the Amarillo, TX market. Remember that banks will not contact you and ask for your personal information, which includes your name, birth date, account numbers, social security numbers or personal identification numbers (PIN). If your bank contacts you, they already have the information you provided, and as such, have no need to ask you for the information again.
