Welcome to the official website of the Hereford, Texas Police Department.  The city of Hereford, Texas is located in the Texas Panhandle and serves as the county seat of Deaf Smith County.  Hereford is home to over 14,000 people and boasts area industries including dairy farms, cattle feedlot operations and ethanol production facilities.  

The police department currently consists of 25 sworn members.  The police department operates three 8 hour patrol shifts, operating 24 hours a day.  Additionally, members of the police department are assigned to CID (Criminal Investigation Division). The police department also operates a 24 hour a day communications division which handles not only incoming calls for service for the city of Hereford, but also serves as the 911 PSAP, EMS dispatch and initial Fire Department dispatch communications center for the city and Deaf Smith County.  The communications division is comprised of 5 certified telecommunicators.  Finally, the police department also is home to the animal control division of the City of Hereford, Texas.
